New user of unraid, has question about mapping drives to shares.

Featured Replies

So I've been a faithful user of Synology Nas's for many years, I eyed unraid several years ago and finally got around to setting up a server last night. It's been purring away for the last 24 hours, and I've been able to set up a share and map a drive letter to it.

With the Synology units I found it cumbersome to use their "assistant" program to map drives. I switched to using the DOS command "NET USE" and it works great for me.

My question is, is there a better way to map drives, or keep doing what I'm doing if it works for me?

In unRAID you can choose whether or not to export shares and make them public, secure or private.  I have all the media shares publicly exported and they show up in Windows as network shares.  For my wife, I map specific drive letters to shares she needs.
