Diskshelf Read Errors

Featured Replies

I bought an HP D2600 Disk Shelf to add to pair with my R710 Server. I also bought LSI 9200-8e 6Gbps 8-lane external SAS HBA P20 IT Mode. When adding it to the Server I can add all twelve of the new 2tb drives into the array but after the clearing the disk is complete it tells me 12 disks with read errors and I can't use the twelve new drives. Can anyone help me solve my issue?

Why are you trying to use so many small disks?

They came with the Disk Shelf. Eventually I will replace them with larger capacity drives over time.

You aren't trying to use hotswap are you?

You might try reseating controllers.

I am not using hotswap. I did reseat the controller and rebooted the server a couple times and still the same issue.

Looks like the HBA is losing connection with all the disks at the same time, I would suspect an issue with the enclosure, could also be the HBA>enclosure cable, try adding adding one disk.

I'll try reseating the card again and adding one disk tonight and get back to you.
