June 28, 200620 yr When it boots I get the following: i try to hit enter (no root pw) and ctrl-d it just reboots any ideas?
June 28, 200620 yr Reboot, get to that same prompt and this time just press enter (do not press control-d) and see if you get a "#" prompt. Report back if you do... (or if it reboots anyway) Now the root filesystem is actually uncompressed from the USB drive, so not sure how it thinks it is corrupted unless A. your ram is acting up. (Try swapping the ram if there are more than one module) or B. your USB flash drive contents are partially scrambled. (Unlikely, but I guess it is possible) If you were one of those who has both a "current" and "previous" choice available when you boot, try using the previous. Joe L.
June 29, 200620 yr Author I tried hitting previous, didnt work.(forget the error, will report what itwas later) hit enter when the prompt came up, all it did was reboot. i will haveto try the ram
June 30, 200620 yr I got this error on my first flash drive after a power glitch. I would suggest you check all BIOS settings to ensure they did not get reset. In my case this did not happen and I had to get a replacement drive from Tom.
June 30, 200620 yr Hi all, I have my two unRaid servers on a 1kw UPS and have not had a problem with power glitches as such. I think that it would be smart to have any server on a sufficiently robust UPS. lovingHDTV, If you did have your unRaid server on a UPS, could you please tell us the brand and model so that we can avoid this UPS because it sounds like it is not fast enough to handle a power glitch that can corrupt the flash drive. Just a thought. Regards, TCIII
July 4, 200620 yr When it boots I get the following: ... i try to hit enter (no root pw) and ctrl-d it just reboots any ideas? I've seen this happen once in our lab and once with a customer. I believe it's a bug in the USB Flash itself because we analyzed the 2 Flash'es and found that there are several K-bytes of wrong data spread all over the Flash. The Flash we use is manufactured by SuperTalent and they use a Samsung part. I was able to correspond with SuperTalent tech support who told me to send them back the Flashes which failed in this way and they will replace They would neither confirm nor deny any problem related to "abnormal" power loss. Interestingly, as we receive shipments of new Flash devices, I've noticed the total size has been decreasing slightly, and with the latest ones the "geometry" is quite a bit different than the early Flash devices. This makes no operational difference but seems to imply to me that there have been changes in the Samsung part. Probably the best recourse for you is to send me an email and I'll ship you a new Flash via overnight delivery.

Just a thought. Regards, TCIII At the time I did not have it on a UPS. I was still building it, just happened to get a power glitch during the build. I now have it on a UPS and have not had any issues. We get a lot of glitches here in TX they happen daily, so all my electronics are on UPS. APC is the brand I use.
July 5, 200620 yr lovingHDTV, I use either TrippLite or APC 1kw or larger UPS. My two unRaid servers are on a 1kw APC UPS because Southern California Edison has very violent outages and surges here in the Los Angeles South Bay area. Regards, TCIII
