Feature Request - Encryption

I'm gong to give truecrypt a try but would prefer something that's integrated into unraid.

With the plug-in architecture of V5 is there any chance we can get FDE? It seems stable enough to run now and I'm planning an upgrade to support 3TB drives with v5. I have v5 on one server now and it's running smoothly, my old hardware will go into 2 new servers and I'll want v5 for sure.  If FDE could be done with a plug-in I'd be happy as a clam. Truecrypt just doesn't serve my needs for this I'm afraid.

AFAI understood, the plugin architecture is for building application layer integration (feature/logic/code + UI).

For "real" FDE (besides encfs, which is already there) you need a kernel driver and modification for integration in the limetech md module.

I doubt that V5 will make this possible.

Ah well, it was a distant hope but I figured it was worth a shot to ask. I've recently gotten all of my hardware on V5 and begun adding plug-ins, looking at them I now realize better what they are. I believe you're right that they won't touch the kernel. Recompiling the kernel is a little beyond me right now, especially at a level that could potentially damage my files! Hopefully v5 is nearly mature and Tom can consider this in the future...
