June 21, 201115 yr I have 3 towers. Tower 1 and 2 are not 4K aligned but tower 3 is 4k aligned. Tower 3 seems to be slow to connect to shares. The other 2 towers are fast. I have no idea why I am seeing this. They are all connected to the same switch. I was copying a bunch of files to the tower and then it just lost connection and I could not ping it anymore. I had to restart it. Am I overlooking something?
June 21, 201115 yr What sort of network card does it use? The Realtek 1111E (I think) appears to have issues in UnRAID. I used to get reboots when doing duplex copies (ie, off the server to my desktop then back to the server in one copy) I would try a PCI/PCIe network card and see if that has the same issue.
June 22, 201115 yr This board has a Realtek RTL8111E. This has caused a lot of problems with unRAID. Find an inexpensive PCI or PCIe gigabit ethernet card. I would go with PCI in order to save the PCIe slot for expansion.

June 22, 201115 yr Author I only have 2 PCI slots and 1 PCI x16 slot. Can I use a PCIe network card in the PCI x16 slot. I need to keep the PCI slots free for sata card upgrades.

June 22, 201115 yr I only have 2 PCI slots and 1 PCI x16 slot. Can I use a PCIe network card in the PCI x16 slot. I need to keep the PCI slots free for sata card upgrades. Why? The PCIex16 2.0 slot will support adding up to 8 drives with currently available cards. It has the capacity to support up to 64 drives without any performance penalty. A PCI slot can support only 1 drive without performance penalty. And if both slots share bandwidth then only a single drive is supported between them. The PCI slot will support Gigabit Ethernet without performance penalty. Get a Gigabit Ethernet PCI card and use the PCIe slot for drive expansion.
