Strange Problem

Featured Replies

I deleted all of the shares in "My Network Places" with the server turned off.    When I rebooted, all of the shares are gone.    I can still get to the Tower via "View Workgroup Computers"

Yes.

I think I see the problem.  There is a user share named "disk2" which is conflicting with the "disk2" automatically-generated share - this will cause very strange things to happen.

There must be some disk which has a top-level directory named "disk2".  Probably the easiest way to find it is to temporarily disable User Shares, then go to each disk share, looking for a directory in the share named "disk2" - then rename/delete that directory & re-enable User Shares.

Halleluiah!!!

Problem solved.  That was exactly the problem.  When I moved the data off of the old Disk2, I used the copy commands inside telnet.  That created a folder on disk3 called "disk2".  I never even thought to delete it.    Now in hindsight, it seems so obvious.  Thanks for your help.
