December 8, 20223 yr Community Expert Once a drive is disabled then it will stay in that state until it is rebuilt. if you try and start the array in normal mode with the drive disabled then Unraid will try and emulate the drive contents using the combination of the parity drive and the other data drives. When you do this does the emulated drive appear to mount correctly and show the expected contents?

Thanks but a newbie with unraid, so are you saying start the server and the array starts automatically, which i have now done, but this drive still shows with the red X . i can go into the drive and the folders are still there with contents showing update stopped the server shut down and made sure to swap the cables from this drive and still the same Edited December 8, 20223 yr by robti update
December 8, 20223 yr Community Expert Please post the diagnostics after starting the array in normal mode.

December 8, 20223 yr Community Expert Solution SMART looks OK, some UDMA CRC errors so suggest replacing the SATA cable, then and since the emulated disk1 is mounting and assuming contents look correct you can rebuild on top. https://wiki.unraid.net/Manual/Storage_Management#Rebuilding_a_drive_onto_itself
December 9, 20223 yr Author Update followed @JorgeB instructions and everything back online now, thanks to all for the help
