December 14, 20223 yr Hi I've recently setup my first UNRAID NAS. I added an 8TB parity drive and three 3TB drives for data. Yesterday I added an extra 8TB drive and while it was doing a read check, it found 2 errors on the parity drive and UNRAID disabled the parity drive. I stopped the array, unassigned the drive, restarted, reassigned, .. When doing the parity check it found around 900 errors. On the newly added drive it then found 2 errors. What I've done: - Opened up my case and checked the connections. They seem fine. What I did notice: both drives that got errors are connected to a SATA expansion card - Started the array and I'm running an extended SMART self-test. It's still running currently I've attempted to take a look at the diagnostics dump, but not sure where to start. I've attached it. If anyone would be able to help, would be much appreciated! prosper-diagnostics-20221214-0917.zip
December 14, 20223 yr Community Expert Solution Both devices connected to the Marvell controller dropped offline, note that we do not recommend using them with Unraid, one of the the common issues with them is disks being dropped without a reason.

Aha, is there a resource somewhere with controllers that are known to be working? The controller is new so I should be able to return it. Edit: did some googling and found the post with recommended controllers myself Thanks for the help and info! Edited December 14, 20223 yr by prosper
