[Solved] User Level Security

Featured Replies

I feel stupid on this one, but I have looked in every page in the GUI and can not find ANYWHERE to enable User Level Security.  All I get on the Users page is the "root" user.  Nowhere to add, can't find a Security page anywhere.

Did something not get enabled in my pro version?  I think user access control is enabled with it, right?

What version?

In 4.x it's Settings->Share Security (array must be stopped)

ahhh....  yes. 4.7 but the array is running.  Parity update in progress so I will do this in a couple hours when it finishes.

THANKS, thought I was losing my mind.  If it shows up, I will mark this solved.

OK, yes stopping the array let me turn on user security.

Then I could add users, but it doesn't appear to be working.

When I click on Add, after typing user name and password, it just disappears from the list of users.

Here is syslog edit:

When I try access the server from another computer, I now get the user ID / PW, but the ones I entered don't work.  Only root will work.

You might have to start the array first so Samba & friends are active.

Did that, or I wouldn't have been able to see the shares.  The added user names don't even show up in the list.

names must be all lower case.

thanks.  i remember reading that somewhere now, but it slipped.  thanks.

will it recognize a user id from a Win 7 account that is capitalized?

My ids are mixed case in Windows7 and they work fine when entered all lower on unRAID 4.6.
