DataLordPikajew
I'm having a tough time and losing trust in my new unraid rig. I really like it for the most part. My wife charged me with moving it to a new location in our house. After the move, it's just not been the same. I made a reddit post for help, so I hope copy\paste from there is ok. " So I just moved the array to another space per the wife, now one drive will not come online in the array. The odd thing is, it does mount in unassigned. Please see screen shots. All data seems to be intact, but I can't get the machine to recognize the one drive and boot the array properly. Not much of a pro, so my command line is poor at best. Migrating from a Windows 10 Drive pool over SMB so I'd really like to avoid having to retransfer data. Since i was just getting stable with this build, there is no parody yet to restore from. Please help ❤️ Can submit logs etc with instruction. thank you ❤️ https://preview.redd.it/6riy8hl9agga1.png?width=820&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=6ab84cb8fa3476aad3853b18cc4b7333dbbb8b5c https://preview.redd.it/fg5nwjl9agga1.png?width=2110&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=cd537bfc2c70b5669d9d9710010035bf95a8dd99 It when adding another 4 bay drive set to the pool (usb 3 jbod enclosure), it also doesn’t allow for me to select drives appropriately. Something weird here man…. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gTpFd4Fs6q6wGoNxH_eOBK_Nx3bQSSBO/view?usp=drivesdk" The real concern is now the last one. I mounted the 12tb alone, added the 14tb to the array, and I'm moving the data with Krusader. After that, I'll format the 12tb, copy back off the 14tb to it, and the 14tb can become parody. But from there, I have about 7-8 more drives to add into the array. Getting another issue like the google drive video is just... terrifying. With all the time and effort I've put in, I kinda just want to be done. Any ideas what happened? Anything I can do to repair? For your notes, I'm normally using this USB card, though I have connected the drives to the motherboard directly with the same issues: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081Y4NT25/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All drives in these JBod enclosures. : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WPPJHSS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thank you for any help and advice. I'm very green to all this... Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
We don't recommend using USB for array or pool devices, there are multiple known issues, but please post the diagnostics. Quote Link to comment
DataLordPikajew
May I ask what's best to use? I could go to ESATA if that would be more stable. Is there a recommended card that unraid has no issue with? I'd also need longer Esata cables than I've seen around. 6-10 foot https://pastebin.com/HxJMwS4q Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
eSATA is fine if it only connects to one device, but eSATA enclosures usually have a single eSATA port and then use a SATA port multiplier, and those are no good, SAS is really the best option for external, internal SATA or SAS. DataLordPikajew
Crapppp.... this is gonna hurt me more than it's going to hurt you, isn't it? Do you have a recommendation of a SAS enclosure and card that work without issue? Bummed, never had these issues on Windows using drivepool :\ Quote Link to comment
DataLordPikajew
Also, will I be able to just move the drives and spin up the array? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
SAS enclosures can be expensive, you can also take a more DIY approach, e.g.: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/74460-external-sas-storage-101-query-not-guide/?do=findComment&comment=686248 Quote Link to comment
DataLordPikajew
I've done a bunch of reading and looking and I just don't think that's possible for me to do. It's going to get CRAZY expensive. Not to mention I chose my Mobo, etc not expecting this. I have short PCI slots, etc. Any other options? I'm SHOCKED Unraid doesn't handle USB well Quote Link to comment

DataLordPikajew
I don't think that's wise with that amount of data... Quote Link to comment
