Running Docker on Cache Drive

Featured Replies

Hi All!,

I'm barely new to Unraid, I'm trying to run a docker container entirely on the cache NvMe drive to be able to spin down all of the hard drives.

I've already set the appdata share to cache only. Do I have to configure anything else? because when I open the webUI of the docker the hard drives wake up...

Thank you!

best regards

Docker image must also be on cache, by default it's on the system share.

Thank you for your reply...

I send you an image of what I have on my cache disk and in my Docker config. Don't know if I have to change also the default appdata storage location...

Go to the Shares page, click Compute All and post a screenshot.

I send you what I have on Shares.

I think that everything is on cache but I have the parity protect error...

That warning is normal for a single device pool, since there's no redundancy.

Thank you,

Now I see all of the HDD in standby mode. To fix this "problem" the only solution is to add a second cache drive? Or there's a way to store a safety copy of the data on the main pool?

To have redundancy on cache you'd need to add a new device, but note that even with redundancy you should have backups of anything important.
