cdixon Posted March 13, 2023 Share Posted March 13, 2023 I have had my Unraid server up and running for over 6 years. Recently, I have had a problem where one of my drives keeps disabling. I particular drive 4 keeps disabling even though it keeps passing the smart tests. Even when I do a data rebuild on the disc it keeps doing this. itimpi Posted March 13, 2023 Share Posted March 13, 2023 Have you tried swapping the power and SATA cables with another drive to see if the problem follows the drive? The extended SMART test is completely internal to the drive so would not show up any potential cabling issues. If the problem follows the drive then that suggests the problem really is the drive. JorgeB Posted March 14, 2023 Share Posted March 14, 2023 Disk dropped offline so there's no SMART, it's on a Marvell controller and those are known to sometimes drop disks without a reason, so suggest swapping that disk to a different controller to see if it helps. Quote Link to comment
