Shuffling disks (moving from disk1 to parity)

Featured Replies

H ithere. I have an array with 6 disks. I moved some stuff around, deleted some garbage and now I can use one of the disks as parity, but when I simply try to move them around using the MAIN tab, with the array stopped, looks like I actually can't, Unraid wont assume I'm just moving them around. Pretty much, what I want to do is take disk1, the one I emptied and also removed from all shares, to use it as parity. What am I missing? Is it possible at all?

Thank y'all!

You need to do a new config (Tools -> New config)

Thank you mate!

My data will be safe, kept on the disks, right? Only the one I set as parity will have data replaced?

In that page there's a preserve option. "Use the 'Preserve current assignments' selection to populate the desired disk slots after the array has been reset. By default no disk slots are populated." If I only select "pool slots", my cache will be kept as is, right?

The New Config tool is covered here in the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page.

Correct, just make sure you don't assign a disk with data to the parity slot.
