Robbaz
Got two JMB585 5x Sata, one on the motherboard and one in a nvme slot. Is it better to spread out the drives across them? Say three Hard Drives on each chip. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Assuming PCIe 3.0 they have enough bandwidth for 5 HDDs, so there won't be any difference, there can be with SSDs. Quote Link to comment
Robbaz
Yes it's 6 HDD's but ended up scratching the JMB585 idea. Used a m2->pcie riser cable with a 9207-8i at 3.0 1x speeds. Seems to be working fine, maxing out 2.5gbit file transfers. But it will probably bottleneck parity checks. It's a n5105 motherboard without pci-e slots, a bit janky solution but I have more trust in a SAS card. Quote Link to comment
