SSD Array with HDD Parity

Hello,

would it be possible to create an array with 2 HDDs as parity and 3 SSDs as storage ?
The reason for my question is that I want to save a little more power, because it has become very expensive for us and currently I have 2+4 HDDs and 2 small SSDs as cache in operation.

However, I have now considered to switch to 2+3 SSDs and no cache to reduce the power consumption. I had thought of 5x MX500 4TB, the new acquisition of the 5 SSDs is too expensive for me, so my consideration was whether it is possible and whether it makes sense to use 2HDDs from my current collection as parity and 3 SSDs as storage.

It's possible but your write speeds will be limited by the HDDs. 

It's generally discouraged to mix both.

What about the power consumption, does it make a difference if the two parity disks are HDDs or SSDs in an SSD array?

Well if they're HDDs they'll have to be spinning for every write, and an idle SSD draws basically nothing...
