Finally upgrading parity drive to 12Tb - recommendations on brand / model ?

Recommended Posts

My array is at 90%, and I'm pretty maxed out -

8Tb parity

8Tb x 6

4Tb x 2

My plan is to finally upgrade my parity to 12Tb, and swap the parity drive for one of the 4Tb drives. Then I can start buying 12Tb drives - but this will give me some breathing room.

Any preference on brand / model for the parity drive? I see that I can spend $175 - $400. I have a WDC_WD80EMAZ in there now - and it's been working great for 5 years or so.

I see the Seagate Ironwolf 12TB NAS for $189 and the Pro version for $200.

I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Both are good choices, with the Pro being a much better value at these prices.

3 year vs 5 year warranty for the Pro.

Pros are rated for 300tb/year compared to 180tb/year for non-pros.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered a Pro. Thanks for the advice.
