June 8, 20233 yr Guys, I used to have this hard disk in my array and I removed it last week. I have it plugged up to an external case through a USB cable to test the drive. It is a 3 TB WD blue hard disk and it is showing that it has only 802 GB. Did the drive fail and or crash? I will include a screen show. Can options do I have? Is it possible to remove the partition and redo the partition and then a format? Thanks for your help.
June 8, 20233 yr What does it show if you plug it back directly to a sata port? Some USB docks don't pass the drive through properly.
June 8, 20233 yr Author I am not sure because I replaced the drive. I was going to use this as a backup drive now to store files offline.
June 8, 20233 yr Community Expert This is likely a USB bridge problem, it won't fully support >2.2TB disks, get a newer one or use SATA.
