All SATA Drives Have Read Errors

Featured Replies

I'm running an X570, 3900X -- latest BIOS, Latest UNRAID OS

I have 4 SATA SSDs hooked up, all Samsung Evo series...

When I do a read test on the array it goes fine for a little while then starts accumulating millions of read errors for all 4 disks.

Is my controller broken? Can it be fixed? My NVMe disk has no issue, so I do suspect the SATA controller to be the problem.

08:00.0 SATA controller [0106]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] FCH SATA Controller [AHCI mode] [1022:7901] (rev 51)
Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] FCH SATA Controller [AHCI mode] [1022:7901]
    Kernel driver in use: vfio-pci
    Kernel modules: ahci

This controller is being passed though to the Zeus VM, so when the VM starts Unraid will lose contact with all the connected devices.

Thanks for your help. I feel sheepish having not figured this out myself, but I am thankful nonetheless. Cheers.
