Djinn Posted August 16, 2023 Share Posted August 16, 2023 Current setup has 3 TB hard drives but I have bought several 8 tb hdds that I want to replace the 3tbs with. Question is am I better off to just find a way to transfer all my content off of the current system and just blow out the array and put a new one in, or these days with the ZFS thing should I just avoid having the traditional array at all? Just curious. I am running on basically the same setup that I built like 3 years ago just ready for an update looking for what will give me the best long term results. Quote Link to comment

The one big issue I have always had with unraid was how slow it is to copy files to/from so I guess for the boost in performance I am probably willing to be a little more restricted Quote Link to comment
Djinn Posted August 16, 2023 Author Share Posted August 16, 2023 So with the new version its kind of an either or sort of scenario right like you can build a zfs array and you can also build the old unraid one? so lets pretend Ihad the ability to hook enough of these drives up I could theoretically just build the zfs array and copy stuff from the old one to it and then just tear out the old one?
