September 14, 201114 yr Hi, I hope this is an acceptable way to post a feature request as I have not made one before. I notice wider UPS support is on the roadmap but not a high priority. Outside the US APC UPS devices are quite expensive, while other brands are much more widely available and cheaper. We can't use US stuff because it is 110V instead of 220-240V. Since NUT already exists, I am hoping that it might be reasonably easy to integrate into unraid and therefore perhaps could climb the priority ladder a bit..? Not having a working UPS is a bit of a nuisance; this is the only irritation I have with my unraid box and it would be really great to have it sorted. Jason
September 14, 201114 yr I support this feature request. Netgear (ex: ReadyNAS) and Synology are two NAS suppliers that incorporate NUT. I ended up bootstrapping my Synology and installing apcupsd...but it would be easier (and not void the warrranty ) if I could have installed NUT on unRAID.
September 14, 201114 yr NUT is a real PITA to get working under Slackware with USB UPS devices. I tried getting it going but gave up when it had me dealing with creating device nodes and setting non-typical permissions. It's also looks like that will be different for each persons motherboard and usb port used. That alone right there makes it a non-starter. If unRAID was sold only on a fixed hardware platform then it might be doable. However, that's not the case.
September 15, 201114 yr I'm in a similar situation,... the approach I was going to take was to connect my UPS to a server that supported the USB connection and run upsd on there along with upsmon and then from unRAID's perspective attempt at getting upsmon happening. Haven't given it much thought aside of the above and thought it wasn't going to be too difficult ?? I'll find out in the next few weeks.
