bigup
I wanted to replace a 6Tb drive with a 12Tb ironwolf (only due to more space needed, the 6tb is fully working) I precleared the iron wolf in a separate machine i use just for pre clearing, all ran fine and no errors. (pre and post read done too) i used the official guide on how to swap a disk to a larger one (https://docs.unraid.net/legacy/FAQ/replacing-a-data-drive/) when i got to step 7, the 12Tb showed a Red Cross next to it and showed 1024 rear errors in the errors column (first time ive ever seen this column being populated) at the bottom of the screen it showed Read-Check as paused and I had to manually click on resume. After a day, read check has completed with no errors and the drive is still showing a Red Cross Any ideas whats going on here? The drive in question shows data on it (emulated I guess). i have the previous 6tb still untouched, is there anyway to revert back to that? thanks tower-diagnostics-20231204-0624.zip Quote Link to comment
itimpi
The red cross indicates that writes to the drive failed and the drive was therefore disabled. 1 Quote Link to comment
bigup
Hi, thanks, what are my options here? seems the drive is faulty or is it the cabling? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's not logged as a disk problem and SMART looks OK, replace/swap cables to rule that out and if the emulated disk is mounting try to rebuild again. https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/storage-management#rebuilding-a-drive-onto-itself 1 Quote Link to comment

No, red cross means it's disabled, according to your last diags it's mounting, you can see that in the main GUI page, it's it shows free/used stats in front of that disk it's mounting. 1 Quote Link to comment
