mark_s_maynard
Version: 6.12.6 like above every time i wake up for the last 3 mornings unraid is inaccessible via ssh or gui no docker or vms are running and i have to reboot the server. everything else works as it should but something is crashing the system overnight and i have no idea what. i cant check the logs as they are wiped on reboot. the main reason i cant think of is that maybe it is the appdata backup plugin or mover running overnight causing it but those are wild guesses and it only because they are the actions that run overnoght. any help would be greatly appreciated maynardserver-diagnostics-20240104-0811.zip Quote Link to comment
itimpi
The syslog in the diagnostics is the RAM version that starts afresh every time the system is booted. You should enable the syslog server (probably with the option to Mirror to Flash set) to get a syslog that survives a reboot so we can see what leads up to a crash. If using the mirror option the syslog file is stored in the 'logs' folder on the flash drive. Quote Link to comment
mark_s_maynard
hi i told it to mirror and also told it to write the logs to my server but at a quick glance before work im not sure it actually did as the arliest log i could find was shortly after the reboot yesterday. i will post anyway as i dont really know what im looking for maynardserver-diagnostics-20240105-0634.zip Quote Link to comment

mark_s_maynard
@itimpi did the logs give you any indication as to what the problem was? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Unfortunately there's nothing relevant logged, this usually points to a hardware issue, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.
