localhost Unable to connect (first time setup)

Featured Replies

Complete Unraid noob here, trying to setup Unraid for the first time.

When I booted up Unraid for the first time, trying to use tower.local to access the Web GUI did not work. I then restarted the server and tried Unraid with GUI and localhost shows Unable to connect.

The console message shows that there's an IPV4 address assigned so I tried to access the Web GUI using the IP address and it also didn't work.

Things I tried so far:

Safe Mode with GUI

Format Unraid USB Drive and reinstall Unraid

Let the server initialize for 15~20 minutes

Here's the diagnostics zip

Nginx is not starting, is this a completely new install?

  • Author

Yes, it's a new install. I used the Unraid USB creation tool.

There's no setting to enable or disable nginx, and it's not even attempting to start, suggest trying a different flash drive, there may be an issue with that one or the install.

I've tried 3 USBs now and 2 different Unraid version, still getting the same result. Could this be a problem with my home internet?

I've tried the manual install as well but no dice.

Post new diags to see if it's the same issue.

Still don't see the nginx start command being invoked, I have never seen this before, @ljm42any ideas?

  • Community Expert

I guess this is what is preventing the services from starting, including nginx, but again don't remember seeing this before, so no idea what's causing it.

I'm seeing the same thing on a new test build. I see the router assigned the IP to the server, but the webgui doesnt load.

- no local gui because the server doesnt have the nvidia driver

- I can't ssh into the server because there is no root password set yet

Please start your won thread since it's likely unrelated to this.

@takekoI missed earlier that the issue you are having is because the flash drive is not being detected:

Feb  7 03:07:37 Tower emhttpd: Unregistered - flash device error (ENOFLASH4)

That's what causes the other errors, try resetting the board BIOS to defaults, if the same you may try playing with any USB related settings.

I turned on USB power delivery in S5 State and it started working. Thank you so much!
