Unraid not able to access the internet via the apps area

Featured Replies

Hi My Unraid is not able to access the internet via the apps area i get this error

Download of appfeed failed.

Community Applications requires your server to have internet access. The most common cause of this failure is a failure to resolve DNS addresses. You can try and reset your modem and router to fix this issue, or set static DNS addresses (Settings - Network Settings) of 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and try again.

Alternatively, there is also a chance that the server handling the application feed is temporarily down. See also this post for more information

Last JSON error Recorded: Syntax error.

Attached are the diagnostics logs.

Thanks in advance for any help

Did you try any of the troubleshooting steps?

i dont currently have physical access to the server im connecting to it via a VPN and im guessing to change the network settings the VPN and docker and VM's running from it will need to be switched off. Also it was working it just stopped like 2 to 3 days ago.

I've been getting the same error now for about a week after I performed a reboot. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps listed with no luck.  Is there no method we can use to verify if this is a bug or if the appfeed is actually down?

time to test your designated dns server cause i can assure you that the appfeed is available.

I can assure you my DNS Servers are working perfectly, and even switching the DNS to the recommended ones had no effect. But the plot does thicken. When I try to curl those URLs, I'm getting a "self-signed certificate" error. Checking the sites in the browser shows a valid Let's Encrypt Certificate.  I have it plugged into a 2.5Gps GBIC on my Ubiquiti Gateway, and no other devices on my network are having this issue.

What does ping/traceroute spit out? given that curl already gave you a hint, probably good to figure out what ip youre hitting at that point.

Are you sure your server time is correct? Those diagnostics are dated yesterday, which is already past in every time zone.

openssl shows I'm getting a response from my Ubiquiti appliance.

I pulled the diagnostics last night when I decided this was not going to "self-resolve" and wanted to do some troubleshooting.

I confirmed the date using the shell - it checks out.

root@HOMESERVER:~# date

Why would you send Unraid system traffic through pi-hole?

I send all my "Home Traffic" through a pair of Pi-Holes running on two RasPi's. Why would I not? Is there a reason I shouldn't?

Just one more thing to get in the way of troubleshooting. Your server doesn't need adblocking since it isn't going to access websites. It just needs to be able to download files.

Fair enough. But I tried using the recommended DNS and had the same issue, so I ruled that out as the issue.

I was able to resolve this issue by juggling the gateway preferences. I have no idea why this resolved my issues, but I'll take it. Essentially I switched eth0 and eth1 . After doing that I was able to complete the curl command and verify certificate via openssh. Once I was able to confirm I was hitting the AppFeed, I flipped the gateways back and confirmed the AppFeed was still functional.

Typically only eth0 should have a gateway assigned, having multiple gateways assigned will usually cause issues.

I can understand that, however I have multiple NICs and Networks associated with services/containers/VMs running on my UnRAID and require multiple gateways.
