February 14, 20242 yr Hey, I'm quite new to Unraid and built my home server for the past 6 weeks. Now I've run into some trouble. I had to do a reboot and when my system didn't get to the login (bzfirmware checksum failed), I found out, I needed to replace my bz* root files on the USB stick. Now I did that and that seems to be resolved. But after I logged in and tried to restart the array, my array disk (only 1 disk, no parity) is suddenly "not mountable or unsupported file system". I don't think there is anything wrong with it and I want to prevent any data loss. Also I'd really hate to rebuild everything from scratch. I'd appreciate any help. I've attached my diagnostics, and would appreciate any help. best tower-diagnostics-20240214-1929.zip
February 14, 20242 yr There is more corruption on your flash drive than just the bz* files you replaced, since it says disk2 is xbs, which is not a filesystem supported by Unraid (maybe no filesystem has that name). Do you have a current flash backup?
February 14, 20242 yr Author No, I ordered new USB drives yesterday and they should get here tomorrow. Anything I should keep in mind when migrating the USB drive?
February 14, 20242 yr Solution Your data disk should be fine and is probably even mountable if Unraid knew what filesystem it was. If you stop the array, can you click on the drive and set its filesystem to XFS? 54 minutes ago, besux said: hate to rebuild everything from scratch What else besides the data on that disk do you want to keep?
February 14, 20242 yr You must always keep a current backup of your flash drive. Since your current flash drive has some corruption, not clear you can migrate it to a new USB drive. Might be better to start over by following these instructions: https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/changing-the-flash-device/#what-if-i-cant-backup-my-device Then maybe you can try to copy some of your configuration from the old flash drive if you really need it.

I can switch "File system type" to xfs, but the [?] on that option tells me that this will trigger formatting the device? >>> "Enter the desired file system type. Changing the file system type of a device will permit you to reformat that device using the new file system. Be aware that all existing data on the device will be lost." "What else besides the data on that disk do you want to keep?" Ideally, the whole setup of the dockers I installed. It was a lot of work to customize all that. But if that isn't possible, now that I know how all of that works, I can rebuild it in a day or so. Preventing data loss from the HD would be my priority. "You must always keep a current backup of your flash drive." Yeah, that will be something I prioritize from now on Edit: I was thinking about unassigning the disk and try to mount it in a new configuration or as an external drive. Is that a bad idea? February 14, 20242 yr You could try New Config. That should make it accept the disk without formatting it.

Just changing the filesystem won't format a device, you can safely do it and start the array, but a new config like trurl mentioned will also work.
February 15, 20242 yr Author Changing the filesystem worked to bring the array up again. Hope I don't run into any other trouble. Gonna build myself a new stick asap. Thank you guys.
