February 24, 20242 yr Not sure what's going on with my server. I suddenly have a bunch of errors, and both parity drives are disabled. Any help would be appreciated. r2-diagnostics-20240223-1726.zip
February 24, 20242 yr Solution Looks like this controller 01:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller [0107]: Broadcom / LSI SAS3224 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-3 [1000:00c4] (rev 01) Subsystem: Broadcom / LSI SAS9305-24i [1000:31a0] Kernel driver in use: mpt3sas Kernel modules: mpt3sas Maybe try reseating it. Is it overheating?
February 24, 20242 yr Author I think you may be on to something. The card is a passive cooling card with a big heatsink, like many LSI cards. Just touched the card, and the heatsink is insanely hot. Would you happen to know if the LSI cards monitor temp? Is there a way to see that temp in the terminal?

It's meant to be used in a rackmount server, where fan walls force air over all slots. You must provide active airflow somehow.
February 24, 20242 yr Author It's in a supermicro SC847 chassis, however I did change the standard fans for the green fans, so maybe there just isn't enough airflow for this card. I'll try attaching a fan or two directly to the card, or switch to a lower performance card.
