Constant reading of one disk

Featured Replies

I noticed that my unraid array (only two disks) suddenly started to continously work on one of my disks. While disk1 only ha about 4 Million reads, disk 2 has accumulation about 93 Million reads, which seems a lot to me. I've attached my diagnostics.

Have you tried plugins like "File Activity" or "Open Files" to see what files/processes are currently being active?

Your appdata, domains, and system shares are all on the array. Ideally, these would have all files on fast pool such as cache with none on the array so Dockers/VMs will perform better, and so array disks can spin down since these files are always open.

You seem to have an unassigned mSATA attached. What are your plans for that?

Nothing can move or delete open files so you will have to disable Docker and VM Manager in Settings.

The unassigned mSATA is only 8GB big, would that be enough? When I've turned off Docker and VM manager, how would I move thos files to there? I'm a total newb.

That is unlikely to be big enough to be of any practical use.
