How to put immich on nvme? And thumbnails?

Recommended Posts

I installed immich using the recommended docker compose settings. The only thing I changed is where the images are backed up (just pointed it to a share 'images'). Anyway, I wanted it to be on my 'apps' nvme where all my other docker containers go but it doesnt appear to be there (it seems to be on the standard hard drive). The reason for this is I'm sure the docker compose stuff (the env file or the other one). I just have no idea how to change it--I couldnt find it in the settings anywhere. Additionally, I'd like to put the thumbnails of images on the nvme too so that the hard drive doesnt spin up each time I open immich.

Thank you so much for any help!

Then where that goes is set in that share's settings.

I might be misunderstanding you but the share is just where the pictures go. I want the pictures to go to the HDD (which is where they are going). I want the thumbnails and actual program files/docker image data to be on the nvme.

Map the thumbnail volume to the share you want the thumbnails to live on

volume path : share path

/photos/thumbs/ ---> your/thumbnail/share

Found a github discussion for relative volume paths and settings, hopefully this helps

Actual program files are within the docker image, in your system share. That should be set to be on the SSD, but it's controller by the system share's settings.

Appdata is set to go into the appdata share, again it should be set to the SSD and that share's settings define where it goes.

Don't know where immich puts thumbnails, but if you want them on the SSD be sure that's mapped into appdata.
