Help with network connectivity

Featured Replies

Hoping someone can help with what i imagine is a basic problem as I'm not a network person.

Haven't used my server for a while and wanted to spin it back up. Had switched routers in the meantime (used to be a 192.168.1.x address block and is now a 192.168.50.x address block). I'm using a known good ethernet cable, but the router logs aren't showing it as an attached device. I did pull the flash drive and the config file doesn't have anything preset (other than USE_DHCP=yes). That about tapped out my knowledge. Any ideas? Router log is showing the same 4 lines every 5 minutes or so from when it was plugged in but some google searches didn't show a quick answer:

May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: Sending act Frame to 16:d8:85:1a:91:0c with transition target eth6 ssid e8:9c:25:67:5a:30
May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: ifname=eth7, event=156, token=cb, status=1, mac=00:00:00:00:00:00
May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: STA reject
May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: Skip STA:16:d8:85:1a:91:0c reject BSSID

I did try all the other basics...restart router, turn on and off server, stop using mouse as foot pedal, etc. Thanks in advance.

It indicate a station STA:16:d8:85:1a:91:0c connect to router through WiFi but reject.

As Unraid doesn't support WiFi connection, so those shouldn't relate to Unraid.

Well if it isn't that, then I'm not sure what else to post. What would some troubleshooting steps be to figure out why it isn't showing up on the router client list?

Check does the LED on network card and router/switch have change, it show link / speed status.

If you have keyboard monitor attach to Unraid , then access it local and provide the diagnostics ( tools -> diagnostics ) file here.

Log onto the router.  Now look for a table of connected devices.  See if your server is listed there.  Sorry I can't provide more definite instructions but no two routers have similiar interfaces.   See below what shows up for one of my server on the 'Attached Devices' page for my router:

Yes, that is the problem - it doesn't show up in the table of connected devices

I have one solid and one blinking light on the card; unfortunately I don't have keyboard/monitor with unraid...I could but it would be a giant pain so a final step if there's no other thoughts.

192.168.1.x address block and is now a 192.168.50.x

Pls provide network config. file, it likely DHCP wasn't set to yes, or if you remember the original IP address 192.168.1.x, then manual config the access client to 192.168.1.x and try to access.

Also check does a diagnostics ( recent ) file already automatic save on USB stick.

@viperdiver, you can get a clean shutdown of your server with a one second push of the power button.  (You should do this before you pull the boot drive...)

Solved...turned out the boot order was stuck on a share in bios...monitor and keyboard for the win. now to figure out how to get it all back to current!
