I mean if you plug it in via esata is it instantly recognized (I assume not)? Do you just reboot and it's recognized? Something like this seems perfect for preclearing, but I've never used anything external with Unraid so I'm wondering how easily it works. Link to comment

These are neat, but not perfect for preclearing. Preclearing takes days on end. A drive will get very hot in one of these unless you provide a fan.
