Does GUI Mode require a monitor/keyboard/mouse

Featured Replies

I’ve been using Unraid for years but never needed GUI Mode until now. Do I need to connect a monitor and mouse and such to use it or is it possible to access the GUI built in browser through another browsers window?

Not quite sure what you are trying to achieve?    You need an attached keyboard+monitor to make use of GUI mode.   However the GUI you then get is identical to the one you get for running Unraid via a browser over the network.

I need to be able to use a browser to authenticate the rclone docker I have installed with my Google Drive so will need to boot the Unraid server into GUI Mode (If I understand the process correctly 😁). Just not sure how to access the Unraid server in GUI Mode but I’m guessing that can only be done locally at the server via a connected monitor/keyboard right?

I do not see how doing it from GUI mode will be any different to doing it over the network unless I am missing something.

In both cases the browser is making a network connection to Unraid - just that GUI mode does it internally without going out over the physical network.

Is there a way to launch a web browser in Unraid webui mode? I was under the impression that a web browser was only available in gui mode.

Just to be clear, the rclone docker needs to be able to launch a web browser to authenticate with Google. According to the fairly old SpaceInvaderOne video I watched this is only possible in GUI Mode but perhaps that info is outdated.

That sounds as if it might need the browser to be launched from within the docker, not from the Unraid level.   You could ask for help in the support thread for the docker container to get things clarified (I do not use that docker so cannot give a definitive answer).

IF your signature listed motherboard is still correct, or your new board has the equivalent, you can use your motherboard's IPMI which can be accessed with a browser.

Thanks. The motherboard is correct but how would I launch the GUI web browser over an IPMI KVM window? I often watch reboot progress this way but never past the login prompt. If I login does it actually open the GUI window?

If you select GUI mode there will be no CLI login prompt.

So it just boots straight to the GUI window?

I would just experiment with this but my server often requires the flash drive to be moved to a different USB port before it will be detected in bios on a reboot and I’m remote right now.
