Posted August 10, 2024Aug 10 I have an old unraid server that hasnt been touched in a couple years now. If I remember correctly, server was in Jbod. Data wasnt critical but more of a file dump than anything else. I tried turning it on and it seems to turn on fine, but when i tried to access it from the old link i had to that server, it doesnt seem to work anymore Is it possible to remove the drives, plug it into a hard drive dock and just rip the data off? It would be nice to have it, but not the end of the world. at most i would suffer some heartache and move on.
August 10, 2024Aug 10 Connect a monitor and keyboard, and see if it's booting off the USB. I'm betting the CMOS battery died, and it's trying to boot off one of the hard drives instead. Any linux OS should be able to read the individual disks if you can't get the server booted properly. There are many things to try before you remove the drives, you really should give it a chance.
