zmanfarlee
I use unraid but I am absolutely no expert. Recently my USB corrupted so I had to replace. Now I see on my main share the following. I am worried about errors. I know my cache drive looks almost full. I think I have some old stuff writing to there I need to move that I stored in App Data (2nd screen shot plz let me know if that looks wrong). For the errors how would I stop getting errors?/ Is a drive going bad? Is my cache causing the errors???/ My log is full of Cache is full entries and this: Aug 10 04:50:01 Tower rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="8.2102.0" x-pid="817" x-info="https://www.rsyslog.com"] rsyslogd was HUPed I know i look dumb but I am jsut trying to hold movies for family, old pics, and foundry. Any guidance appreciated. I'll figure out hopw to fix my app data. I think I put a bunch of DnD files in it. Quote Link to comment

itimpi
You should post your system's diagnostics zip file in your next post in this thread to get more informed feedback. It is always a good idea to post this if your question might involve us seeing how you have things set up or to look at recent logs. Quote Link to comment

zmanfarlee
I can't figure out what is using all that space either. Maybe the casche drive is stgraight busted?? Quote Link to comment
Solution itimpi Posted August 11 Solution Share Posted August 11 It looks as if the 'appdata' share is using up that space - is it too big to fit onto the 'cache' pool? You should also set a Minimum Free Space for the pool to avoid it filling up too far (at the moment you have this set to 0). This should be set to be larger than the biggest file you expect to be cached. Quote Link to comment

If I have a smart error on the cache should I just replace it? Maybe that is where all myt errors are coming from? As always thank you so much in advance. Quote Link to comment
zmanfarlee
Weird I thought I set it to 50 and it is hard coded to "0" and I can't edit it. Maybe has to do with the corrupted USB cause I didn't have a back up? I have to remap all my dockers cause I can't edit currently. I jsut wish there was a way to see whta the hell is filling my cache. I cant see files on it!!! just kbs or mbs here or there. It's so weird. Quote Link to comment
zmanfarlee
Damn its my foundry folder. Oh boy. Ok. I am going to change out the cache and do a clean install of foundry. Thanks all Quote Link to comment
zmanfarlee
So I am a newb but FYI I found log and error folders in a felddy folder for foundry that was 225gb each! Just had to delete those and now things are better. I have parity check running. If there are errors I plan to replace my cache. Looks like I am mostly back to normal but at least got the big problems out of the way. Quote Link to comment

Parity doesn't involve the pools, so parity errors are irrelevant to your cache pool. If you want to replace your cache pool, you need to make sure all the files on it are backed up elsewhere, and either replace it outright and restore the files, or add a drive to the cache pool and balance it to RAID1 so it's redundant, then you can remove the bad drive. Either way make sure you have good backups of any files you need that are on the cache pool. Quote Link to comment

Can I just have all the folders that save to cache save to pool, invoke mover, replace cache and then undo/ Quote Link to comment

Can I just have all the folders that save to cache save to pool, invoke mover, replace cache and then undo/ Yes, you can change the share settings to the appropriate mover direction and destination, but be aware mover can't move open files, so be sure to disable the relevant services or plugins like VM's and docker before running mover. I'm not saying just stop any VM's and containers, the services must be disabled, the tabs in the GUI will be gone when done properly. Be sure to read the help text on the share allocation page so you get the mover settings correct for the move off and back on later. Post back if you are unsure before you commit. It's quicker to ask for help before things get in a bad state. Quote Link to comment
