January 29, 201214 yr I'm new to unRAID and consequently on this forum a lot lately asking questions. I appreciate the help. While I understand the recommendation for new users to stick with the 4.7 build, I do get a thrill out of being on the cutting edge stuff. I'm up and running on 5.0 beta14 right now because I didn't pay attention when I downloaded the latest version. WHOOPS! I'm just pre-clearing drives right now. My question is... What's the most current beta that is considered stable? Is it still 5.0b6a? The sticky seems to be from quite a while ago. Will my computer blow up if I stay on beta14?
January 29, 201214 yr A couple of what I would call "power users" here on the forums appear to run 5b12a. That's what I would run... if you have an LSI based SATA/SAS card, I think you have to run 5b12a as 13 and 14 I believe have issues with LSI cards.
January 29, 201214 yr I've been running 5b11 for several weeks without issue. I have 1 MV8 & 1 M1015.
January 29, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the replies. At the moment I'm using a generic Silicon Image 3114, but I have ordered a AOC-SAT2-MV8. If I downgrade to 5b12a, should I just wipe my thumb drive clean and start over? I haven't had any problems with beta 14 except these 2 lines that I noticed pop up in the log when I was zeroing all my harddrives. Jan 28 18:09:32 mongo kernel: read_file: error 2 opening /boot/config/super.dat (unRAID engine) Jan 28 18:09:32 mongo kernel: md: could not read superblock from /boot/config/super.dat (unRAID engine) What is super.dat and is it a problem?

It is not a problem, as the file does not exist until after you start assigning disks to the array. (It stores the disk assignments) Joe L.
