August 29, 20241 yr Hello unraid community! I'm new here and looking for some advice. I've got 12TB unraid with a 1TB Cache NVMe up and running and seeding. Mainly using it to seed and as a media server currently. However, my NVMe keeps showing warnings for temperature overheat. (my HDD's are around the 30 ~ 40degree mark) this is the highest it's gotten so far (usually while idle it's around 10degrees hotter than my HDDs): I'm assuming it getting this hot is bad... and I should action this now to ensure it doesn't die prematurely. Would the best thing I could do be get a heatsink for it? Like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07TN2RX2K Thanks for taking the time to read and reply ❤️ Edited August 29, 20241 yr by RedArrow
August 29, 20241 yr Community Expert See what the manufacturer says then you can click on the disk to get to its settings and adjust the warning temperature.

In 7 it will set these to the values on the drive in 6.12.x you will have to change manually.
August 29, 20241 yr Community Expert 70C is a recurring number for max temps on various nvme drives, but as trurl states, best to look it up from manufacturer.
August 29, 20241 yr Author Thanks all for the replies. I've had to send an email to another company that deal with 'sold state drives' for samsung.. so will await their reply for the operating temps that are recommended specifically for this drive. Then I'll set the warning/critical temps based on that as suggested by SimonF. Cheers
