October 2, 20241 yr I have an array of 8 disks in JBOD, no parity. I want to replace a drive. I shut down Unraid, replaced the drive, then start the server again. In the Array Devices view, I can see Disk 6 is missing, which was an 8 TB drive. In the drop-down menu I select the new 16 TB drive that I just replaced the old drive with. Status changes to "Wrong" and I can't start the array. What to do? Do I have to do a New Config? And if so, should I preserve any current assignments?
October 2, 20241 yr Author Solution Ok, so I had to do a New Config, preserving all the assignments. This will start the array. However the new drive still doesn't work. It need to be formatted first, which you can do from within Unraid. And after all that it's ready to be used. Problem solved.

The correct process is covered here in the online documentation accessible via the Manual link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI. In addition every forum page has a DOCS link at the top and a Documentation link at the bottom. The Unraid OS->Manual section covers most aspects of the current Unraid release. Do you still have the old drive you want to replace with its contents intact?

October 2, 20241 yr You don't have parity, so cannot do a standard rebuild, but you can still copy the data from the old disk, if available.
