Unraid 7.0.0.-rc2 no interface rules section

Featured Replies

Added a new 10gb 82599 pcie nic. want to use it as eth0 and my mobo 2.5g as backup. interface rules section is not present in network setting. i can add the network-rules.cfg and the section will appear but is non-functional. Additions or changes don't persist past reboot even adding to the mounted directory on the usb drive (/boot/config).

I've read numerous posts and tried to troubleshoot with no luck. Otherwise the nic work fines. I have it setup as slave in bond0 and disconnected the 2.5g, so its in use, but id really like to figure it out and learn how to fix and set up the 2.5 as slave. Some posts say its just a hardware combo with certain cards where the system doesnt recognize both nics and populate network-rules.cfg at boot.

if you need any other information or have suggestions im all open to ideas.

Typically, this is the issue, have you tried deleting/renaming network.cfg and rebooting?

Ya no rules .cfg is spawned at boot. I can create it and the section partially populates in gui, but after power cycle any changes are cleared.

I've also deleted all network cfgs and tried rebooting but it launches the same.

Would removing/reinserting the card make any difference? Can I manually initialize or change 10g nic to eth0, maybe using server gui before adding network connection?

Try using the NIC in a different slot if possible.

I too am not seeing the interface rules control section.  I was on 7.0-RC2 and now on the 7.0 stable release (same issue on both)  There is no network-rules.cfg in the /boot/config/ location,  I've tried deleting network.cfg and rebooting yet not avail.  The network interface shows both eth0 and eth1; ethtool eth1 shows the following: (below) and if I pull the cable from the onboard NIC the fiber NIC takes over, but I cannot find a way to make eth1 the primary, which I thought was done in the interface rules section.

What am I missing?

TIA

Did you try without the Realtek plugin? If you didn't make sure to delete network.cfg again after uninstalling it.

I was in the same situation w/o the Realtek plugin..  The fiber card is functional, has a link and when I pull the cord from the Realtek onboard NIC the fiber card takes over.  I understand the interface-rules wont show up if multiple NIC's aren't recognized; this is not my case (I think).

Yes, you are not the first one this happened to, but unclear why, it appears to be related to some hardware combinations, may be worth truing a different slot for the add-on NIC, or even a different model, other than that I'm afraid that I don't have more ideas.

Did you ever solve this?
I just upgraded some hardware and also added a 2.5g intel NIC to avoid new onboard realtek but have the same issue. Used to run a 10g SFP+ NIC but wanted to go back to ethernet for convenience. Ended up not being convenient at all 😅
