February 18, 20251 yr Community Expert I use a couple of VM's to back up and clone hard drives with Acronis... I struggled for a LONG TIME trying to figure out why it wopuld crash after I gave it the user info for my server... It turned out I needed to turn on a root share and then everything worked... Fast forward a bit and I can't get it working again... My rootshare is still defined in Samba extra configuration, but I can't see it anywhere... Is Rootshare no longer possible? Am I missing something? I originally followed SpaceInvaders video...
February 18, 20251 yr Community Expert Solution I would recommend not using a rootshare, but if you really want to, remove all of that, install UD plugin, and use the root share option there.
February 18, 20251 yr Author Community Expert I totally agree with your warning, but I need this software working... I tried it and it's still not working... I wonder if the issue is the name of the share... Or is the share not mounted... I'm not seeing it in Windows either...
February 18, 20251 yr Community Expert I don't use that, any doubts ask in the UD plugin support thread.
February 18, 20251 yr I think you have enable disk shares as yes in global share settings. A root share won't work with disk shares enabled.
February 20, 20251 yr Author Community Expert Yep. I did have root Disk Shares turned on, and that is also why my added settings stopped working... Thank You In addition I figured out how to get Acronis to work WITHOUT the root share... I can drill in to the share but if I typed the address in directly it Froze. Thanks for your help.
