Can't access server shares after update [Solved]

Featured Replies

I updated my unRaid from 4.7 to 5.0-b14. I am no not able to access any of my shares from the network. I can see all the shares, when I try to access:

"\\TOWER\Movies is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions."

I can create new shares and access them just fine. I just can't get to the pre-5.0 shares. I went to the Utils page and ran the New Permission process. Is there something I missed? Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Oh good, I'm not the only one with that problem!!

I had not. I just restarted everything and still get the same response. I've attached the log after rebooting the server, if there is a difference.

Did you run New Permissions in Utils?

Is Worgroup still ok and Local Master set to yes, both are under SMB in Settings.

Yes. I ran the new permissions in the utilities. I could see where it started to run but I'm not sure it finished. I came back to the server after 2 minutes and only disk 1 had been accessed. All the other drives were idle. If the utility was to check every file, shouldn't it have spun up all the drives? It's about 7.5TB, how long should the process take?

While I'm not sure of the exact process the new permissions script uses, the length of time it would take would likely have more to do with the number of files that need their permissions changed, rather than the size the occupy.  It would take a lot longer to change permissions on 7.5 TB of pictures, than 7.5 TB of Blu-Ray ISO images.

I do agree that all the drives probably should have been spun up.  You could always change the permissions manually via terminal:

chown -R nobody:users /mnt/user/sharename

Where sharename is the name of one of your shares.  You'd need to do this for each share.

You are a genius! I was not sure of the setting on Local Master. Installed Team Viewer on my phone and set it to "Yes" Went ahead and restarted the server for good measure. All my shares are back. Thanks for your help!
