March 3, 20251 yr Just updated from 7.0.0 to 7.0.1. Rebooted, now it says four of the disks cannot be mounted with the error "Unmountable: wrong file system". What should I do? I have attached the diagnostics. Edited March 20, 20251 yr by Bob-omb
March 3, 20251 yr Mar 3 10:32:34 nova emhttpd: epsilon: Wrong encryption key Make sure you are entering the correct key, if yes and still shows as wrong, it's likely a hardware issue, like bad RAM or CPU, and since you have a 14900K it could be that, but start by running memtest.

You mean the encryption key? If I enter the wrong encryption key I should get an error message, no? This doesn't make sense because all my drives are encrypted so why are some available when others are not? I restarted the server and everything seems fine now, but I have had this issue before so I wanted to report it either way. The 14900K is microcode patched by the way. It is also validated for any errors so it should theoretically not be an issue.

Because sometimes it's detecting a wrong key, it's decrypted every time for every disk/pool, and like mentioned: 21 hours ago, JorgeB said: it's likely a hardware issue, like bad RAM or CPU
March 4, 20251 yr Author OK. I guess I will have to narrow it down then. What do you mean by "detecting a wrong key"? If I had entered the wrong key it would not have unlocked the other drives, right? Sorry if I am asking too much, I am just curious about how this works. Not trying to argue or anything.
March 4, 20251 yr The key is correct, but because of the bad hardware it's sometimes incorrectly decrypted, not sure how to make this more clear.
March 4, 20251 yr Author I see. I am completely open to the suggestion that I might have bad hardware and I will happily look into it. It just seems like a hasty and convenient conclusion, but what do I know. I have used the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool to check the CPU for errors. It did not find any. I also ran a memtest a while back without any errors. Perhaps you have some experience on where I should start looking? You seem kind of frustrated btw. I really appreciate the help, just making sure I fully get it.
March 4, 20251 yr You can start by running memtest, but keep in mind that it's only definitive if it finds errors, so if nothing is found, and it keeps happening, and if you have multiple sticks try using the server with just one, if the same try with a different one, that will basically rule out bad RAM.

It appears that the none encrypted drives mounted fine.

The only one not encrypted is the Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB and that one is not part of an array. It's just an unassigned device. Are you seeing any other drives not encrypted?
