April 25, 201214 yr Hello all, I am a newbie. Got my UnRaid server up and running about 18 months ago, and I love it. I have 3 2TB drives mostly movies. I read about using subsonic when I first built the server, but didn't think much of it till I got a Roku Box.. Now I am wanting to access my server from roku. I cant seem to wrap my head around how it works. Is there a thread that explains the process of setting up a subsonic account and having it access my server? Please point me in the right direction. I feel stupid that I have not been able to make it work.. Thanks in advance, Oscar
April 25, 201214 yr If your Roku can do SMB shares, you dont need subsonic. Both my boxee box and xbmc access my server via the SMB/Samba shares..... How does your Roku read files from a windows machine - it will be the same type of setup to your UnRaid server with "user shares" Myk
April 25, 201214 yr Author Thank you for your reply MyK, Roku uses a channel to access content. I am assuming that because I did not find a network search in the settings and you have to subscribe the channel on the box and use an access code to sync. I have tried to set it up on my Win 7 machine and have not been able to make it work. Looks like I need to do more careful reading on the installation thread on the subsonic site. If someone has a roku box accessing UnRaid please post how you did it. thanks again and all info is welcome, Oscar
April 25, 201214 yr ok, it looks like there is a subsonic app for your Roku, since I dont have one, going to assume install that app, configure the app and point it towards your unRaid box. That is how my XBMC works, there is a subsonic addon that talks to the subsonic server software on the unRaid box... Hope that helps a bit... Myk
April 25, 201214 yr I read about using subsonic when I first built the server, but didn't think much of it till I got a Roku Box.. Now I am wanting to access my server from roku. Not trying to be pedantic here, but I have know idea which of the various products that Roku have made in the past 10 years you are referring to. If you could explain then others may be able to help. Thanks.
