Upgraded to 6.12.15 from 6.12.13 - One disk shows Unmountable : Unsupported or No File System

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been reading on the forums to see if there is a fix for having a disk with the status of "Unmountable : Unsupported or No File System" but I found different solutions due to circumstances.

Here is the series of events:

1. Upgraded from 6.12.13 to 6.12.15.

2. Array came online but noticed one of the disks showing a status of Unmountable : Unsupported or No File System.

3. Restarted the array just to see if it would make a difference and it didn't.

4. Put the array in maintenance mode.

5. Ran check disk. It came with the following info.

<?>

Phase 1 - find and verify superblock... would write modified primary superblock Primary superblock would have been modified. Cannot proceed further in no_modify mode. Exiting now.

<?>

I am not sure if I should perform the repair yet. I have attached my diagnostics too. Thanks for the help.

Run xfs_repair again without -n, or nothing will be done.

Thanks, I have attached the output here in a text file. Looks like it is all good to go. After running it I did the following:

1. Stopped the array

2. Started the array taking it out of maintenance mode.

3. Disk came back into operation.

4. I can now browse the data that is on that disk.

I appreciate you taking a look at my post.

You should now look to see if you have a Lost+Found folder on the drive (which will appear as User Share with the same name).  That is where the repair process would put any files/folders for which it could not find the directory entry giving the correct name.   Not having that folder is a good sign that things went well.

Oh okay. I assume I can view this from the GUI by clicking on the browse icon next to the disk?

If you mean from the Shares Tab --> User Shares. I do not have a new folder there.

On the disk itself, it does not have a folder called Lost+Found.

Thanks for that insight.
