May 15, 20251 yr ## [PLUGIN] Unraid Open Files Plugin (Fork) This is a fork of the original **Open Files** plugin for Unraid, originally developed by **BubbaQ** and later maintained by **dlandon**. This version is maintained for archival and utility use, preserving its original functionality while modernizing plugin packaging and structure. --- ### 💡 What It Does This plugin helps diagnose issues with unclean shutdowns by showing what files are open on the array and what processes are holding them. It adds a page to the **Tools** tab in the Unraid web GUI that lets you: - View which files are open and which processes are using them - Stop all array processes cleanly - Identify what’s blocking the array from clean unmounting --- ### 🛠️ Installation Install via the **Unraid web UI**: 1. Go to **Plugins** > **Install Plugin** 2. Paste this URL and click **Install**: `https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Uleepera/unraid-open-files-fork/main/open.files.plg` --- ### 📁 GitHub Repository - **Code**: [https://github.com/Uleepera/unraid-open-files-fork](https://github.com/Uleepera/unraid-open-files-fork) - **Plugin File**: [open.files.plg](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Uleepera/unraid-open-files-fork/main/open.files.plg) --- ### ⚖️ License This plugin is released under the **GNU GPL v2.0** license. --- ### 🙏 Credits - Original Author: **BubbaQ** - Prior Maintainer: **dlandon** - Fork Maintainer: **Uleepera** --- ### 📝 Notes This fork is intended primarily for archival and diagnostic use. Further development may continue depending on user interest or compatibility requests.

I'm still running 6.12.14 but plan to move up to 7.xx shortly and can retest then. I capped at 6.99 just because I couldn't test it. If you'd like to try in the meantime I can raise the cap? This is my first attempt at anything app releated on here. I'm not sure what protocol for this is. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by Uleepera Corrected my answer

Neither am I 🙂 I would guess, there is an installation blocker in the install script that checks the unraid version. Must be right at the beginning, the refuse is instantly. I had the old "open files" installed, it worked even on 7.1.2 But now that I have deinstalled it to test yours, I cannot get it back anymore... (ok, I could use the backup, but that has no style in this case) Edited May 15, 20251 yr by MAM59

(ok, I could use the backup, but that has no style in this case) I accelerated my plans and updated to 7.x this morning. Removed all the old files related to open.files. Max version number is bumped up to 7.99 for now. Let me know if you have success.
May 15, 20251 yr Success 😁 ( I was expecting this. I guess besides the version check there are not many changes yet ? 🙂 ) speaking of changes.... I like to ask for a wish if you are the new genie 🤪 Look: This is just a very small extract from the very long list (VERY LONG!) that open files produces. This might be relevant for some developers, but it is total overkill to normal users. I would like to see a checkmark to hide some kind of files (like "everything with /usr/lib64" or so). This would greatly shorten the list and much easier find the "really" open files for the users. I also thought about an expanding list if you click on the processname, but this does not help much I am afraidl. The most relevant process "smbd" contains hundreds of libs before it shows the first open user files. So better hide a list of directories. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by MAM59
May 15, 20251 yr Author Not a single change yet. I just wanted to get it back and functional to start. Then I can take a look to see if updates are possible. Check box isn't a bad idea similar in windows to removing anything from microsoft on the service list. I'll poke around later and see.
May 15, 20251 yr Right now, @EDACerton has already published a fork for both Open Files and File Activity. Since he is an already established developer, his fork is the one which is in CA. Support thread for them are the already existing threads. It is recommended that everyone uninstall the versions from dlandon and install the versions from EDACerton. Fix Common Problems does now have verbiage advising to do this. Sorry for any inconvenience @Uleepera. But, if you are interested / willing, the Active Directory Tips/Tweaks plugin is also in the same situation. Andrew
May 16, 20251 yr oh, sorry @Uleepera, then I will switch to the other version. Get your hands on "Tips&Tweaks", its very useful too. Tnx for your work. @Squid: cannot find the version you are talking off. Or is it too still limited to <7.00 UNRAID and therefore not shown in CA ? Found it after removed the "incompatible" flag in CA, but it is not limited to <7. Hmm... Edited May 16, 20251 yr by MAM59

Andrew No worries, man, I'll take a peek and see but I haven't used them before.

Actually for me on 7.1.4 it does NOT specify there is a replacement plugin available:Deprecated plugin file.activity.plgThis plugin has been deprecated and should no longer be used due to the following reason(s): This plugin is unknown to Community Applications. It is highly advised to uninstall this and reinstall the replacement file.activity plugin available within Apps While this plugin should still be functional, it is not recommended to continue to use it.Deprecated plugin open.files.plgThis plugin has been deprecated and should no longer be used due to the following reason(s): This plugin is unknown to Community Applications.
