May 10, 201214 yr I just got a machine up and booted into unRaid, but I'm having network issues. I have tried: Plugging my ethernet cable from the integrated motherboard nic to my DSL Router. I boot up, but when I login as root, and ifconfig,..no ip address. I unplugged that direct connection and then plugged in a USB Wireless N stick. Still no IP address. I had two questions about the wireless: 1 - Does wireless work with unRaid? 2 - How do I get my wireless network's password into unRaid so it can connect to my network?
May 10, 201214 yr i don't believe UnRaid has any drivers for wireless USB devices. The first problem is nothing to do with wireless, either 1) You don't have a DHCP server running and all your addresses are statically assigned. 2) UnRaid doesn't have the drivers for your network card.

I can discount 1, since my other computers do get dynamic IP addresses. However, 2 is probably what my problem really is. My next step, is to boot into Ubuntu and see if I get an IP when wired directly into the DSL Router. If it does, I can make sure the integrated NIC is good. Then I'll have to scrounge up a "supported" NIC card and plug it in, and give that a try. Two Questions: 1 - So, no one runs their unRaid server via wireless adapter? i.e. Wireless is not supported? If it is, how do you enter you network's WEP password? 2 - How do you load an internal NIC drivers? Or are only certain NIC supported? Thanks for the help!
May 10, 201214 yr Author What does "ethtool eth0" show? At work now,..but will be able to answer that question later tonight. I'll also try the things I mentioned above,..such as booting into Ubuntu to see if I get IP that way.

Wireless would slow down data transfers, so that's why I only run over gb lan. The entire house is gb capable in fact, except the laptop and iPhones. But we're not moving a lot data to those.
May 10, 201214 yr Author What does "ethtool eth0" show? Okay, in one of those moments where you say,..."Now why is it working now"....?? I put a different lan card in and it was still no good. I took the card out and went into the bios just to see if I had something disabled. Well, I did take notice that this mobo has integrated gigbit nic,..but I did not change a thing. I then plugged the lan cable into the integrated nic so I could run the command you asked about. But when I took a look at the IP,...it was a valid IP. I went to my browser and brought up //tower (actually I had to use the IP) and wham,..I'm golden!!! I assigned the 3 drives and it's formatting now! It never ceases to amaze me that these kind of things happen. My next goal is to put this through it paces. 1 - Create a share and load data onto it remotely. 2 - Test file downloads and playing movies in XBMC 3 - Remove a drive and put another (empty) drive in to replicate dead drive and see it being rebuilt 4 - Buy the Pro version and install every drive I have available
