Failed disk??

Featured Replies

I had a disk report read errors repeatedly, replaced cables etc. No Change in behavior. So i RMA'd the original disk and replaced it, but now with the replacement disk I am getting the exact same number of read errors when rebuilding parity.

Not really sure where to proceed from here.

It's not logged as a disk issue, swap both cables/slots with a different disk and try again.

Generally errors out real quick at 1024. I replaced, cable, SAS card and DISK. Same behavior each time

I had on an old board the issue that a liitle scratch made that components randomly had readerrors. Maybe the board has a defect?

Also replaced/swapped the power cable?

I will need to order another power cable I unfortunatly do not have that lying around, I do have a few available connectors so I will try skipping one for now to see what happens while I wait for a new cable.

Thanks

You can also just swap with a different disk and see where the issue follows.

Changing the power connector didn't help same issue, errors out after a minute or so at 1024. I did order another power cable its a 5 port extension cable. so I can replace the whole cable it should be here tomorrow but I am not holding my breath.

I am emtpying the contents of the offline disk as i try things, I might see if I can get it as empty as possible and then rebuild the configuration, but that is going to take awhile its a 20 TB disk that had 16 TB of data on it I am about half way done.

Something is missing here; it doesn't make sense that you have the same issue using different cables, controller and disk.

I swapped out the whole power splitter. And that did in fact resolve the issue. must have been an issue smoehwere in the whole cable.
