November 9, 2025Nov 9 Author HI guys, is this real? or will it eventually get faster as it gets to other part of the platter?
November 9, 2025Nov 9 Community Expert This last part can take some time, it will depend on the number of bad sectors, but it can take days, or even months for more extreme cases. There are also diminished returns from here; that is, probably won't recover much more than 97.12%, but I would at least give it a day or two and see how it progresses. You can abort if it's not really recovering much anymore and is going to take a long time.

Most often, ddrescue can recover 99.99%, make sure the old disk is disconnected when trying to import the pool.

November 10, 2025Nov 10 Community Expert Run a scrub; there may be some corrupt files, and zpool status will show them if there are. Also, consider recreating the pool with some redundancy if that data matters.
