May 26, 201214 yr I just got one of these about a month ago, and installed it as my new parity drive. It is blazing fast compared to the "green" drive that was in there before. But that hasn't really translated into much difference in real use. Transfers aren't really any faster. Parity checks don't run any quicker. I'm also concerned that Seagate has reduced their warranty to one year. Since I just RMAed my SIXTH drive in the past two months, this issue is near and dear to my heart. I'm seriously considering an aftermarket extended warranty. I'm much more attracted to Best Buy's $125 Seagate Barracuda, which is a 5900 RPM green drive. I'm not fussed about rotation speed, power consumption, or anything else. It's all about the warranty, and this bad boy gets five years of blissful security.
