"Requires guest agent installed" still Showing in UnRaid after running Guest Agent (gemu-ga-x86_64) within the Windows VM

Featured Replies

I have stopped and started the Windows 10 VM several times and this message still shows up in Unraid under IP Address.

I cannot RDP to it fine, but after looking at several posts, it seems once I run the file stated above within the Windows VM, it should go away.

What am I missing? This is m first real VM on UnRaid.

Just to be clear, you don't need the guest tools to RDP, which ISO are you using? And also the file you are running.

You need to install the guest agent from the virtio cd.

I thought I did, with running Guest Agent (gemu-ga-x86_64) within the Windows VM from the cdrom disk that showed up in Explorer. I ran gemu-gax86_64. Didn't see anything happen, but I ran it. Ironically, those cdrom drives are not showing up in explorer now.

Unless the name changed in recent virtio releases, I can't check ATM, you should run the highlighted file.

I found the file and installed it within the Windows VM. Interesting. It resolved the Requires Guest Agent Installed and the IP show up in Unraid. -That is until I stopped the VM and restarted it. Then the message is back. I tried several times to re-install it, stop and start. And it appears only to work until I stop the VM. Once I start the VM again, it no longer shows the IP and the message is back. Everything seems to work, just not sure of the logic of why it isn't being resolved after the install.

That is not normal, as a test, try creating a new VM with stock settings and see if it's the same.
