May 25, 201214 yr I tried stopping and starting the array and that didn't help. disk1 is 2TB and disk2 is 250GB. The USER share still shows as 2TB. I added disk2 to the included field. The included disks field looks like this: "disk1, disk2"
May 25, 201214 yr Author I also tried "disk1,disk2" (with no spaces) -- same problem. I am using 5.0 RC3.
May 26, 201214 yr Author Okay, I resolved the problem. I didn't include disk2 in the USER SHARES settings page, just the user share itself.
May 26, 201214 yr Author Hrm.. it shows the right size but isn't utilizing the disk. It didn't create the sharepoint directory on that disk. Also when I tried including just disk2 for the share and excluding disk1, the size adjusts down to 250gb from 2.25tb .. but when I access the share it still is reading from disk1... (the 2tb drive)..... I stopped and started the array as well.
May 26, 201214 yr Author Btw, are there any disadvantages to just having one huge share, with user level security, and a split level of like 100 (i.e. infinite). I really just want one big share and the entire contents spread out all over the place.
May 26, 201214 yr It's easier to inventory the contents with precise settings. In case of a unrecoverable failure, you will lose entire album or season instead of random tracks and episodes. It's much easier to restore things this way.
May 26, 201214 yr Author I guess split level = 0 would be infinite splitting then-- just read about that. From my understanding, if I have a parity drive I should be able to recover that drive with random split files on it right? My only problem would be if 2 drives failed at same time?
May 26, 201214 yr 0 means no automatic split, all directories must be manually created. Yes. A 2 drive failure is unrecoverable. I think blank may mean infinite, but is is a mystery.
May 26, 201214 yr Author I'd like one share point, let's call it "Sirius" (on the Galaxy server). I'd use the high-water allocation method. I'd like the unRaid server to automatically copy files on any level to the next available hard drive using high water. So the unRaid Server needs to mirror the directory structures for me automatically from the "Sirius" share point on downward. Is this possible? Do I leave the split level blank or do I put a zero in it?

May 26, 201214 yr Author Hrm, I left it blank and it is splitting them. My share point is called Sirius (a USER share with disk1&disk2 included). I have a Movies folder under that. And under Movies I have 3 directories: Family, PG-13 & Rated R. I copied over 900GB of movies to the user share. disk1 = 250gb hd, disk2 = 500gb (used small HDs for a test). At first it copied to the larger of the two hard drives, the 500gb. It created the entire directory structure all the way down to Family on disk2 and then started copying. After disk2 got 50% full --it was partially done copying the PG-13 movies--, it then created a PG-13 directory in the appropriate place on disk1 and finished copying until disk1 was 50% full. It then switched back to disk2 and created the Rated R directory and finished copying all the files. So it appears if you leave the split level field blank the server will take care of all the splitting and split down to at least level 3 (in this test) -- perhaps infinite.
