Problems with hanging

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm having a few issues with my server

  1. Dockers won't open - they are just hanging

  2. Parity check won't complete and won't cancel or pause - it just hangs

  3. Currently neither shutdown or restart will work, what do you advise?

Logs from a few days ago attached because - guess what - the request I just made is hanging 😂

Have you done memtest recently?

It's been a couple of months, but I can't get it to shutdown - will a hard reboot be ok?

Would the 2nd bit be causing slow parity and the hangs?

  • Community Expert

Unraid driver is crashing, that's why the parity check got stuck. This is almost always a hardware issue, memtest is a good place to start, and if the server doesn't reboot cleanly, you may need to force it.

ok so memtest IS throwing up a fail, would you recommend a specific brand of non ecc ddr4 or can I just go with something like kingston or adata over say corsair?

  • Community Expert

Not really, as long as it's a known brand, then just run Memtest again for a few hours, but note that it's only definitive if it finds errors.

Was disk5 already disabled when you booted and got the unclean shutdown parity check?

It was, yes, but I was sure it showed the device ID?

Yes, it was in those first diagnostics, and it looked like it was probably OK. I suspect a connection problem.

That is what I thought as well because it occurred quite a while ago after swapping out a different failed drive, I just hadn't got to it yet.
